'In the News...'

Our Head Groom, Sam Sheibani, had a great write up and photograph in Horse & Hound on 21st August 2014. Sam  and his five years old Stedinger mare, Callidora, achieved a double win at Elementary level at Aintree International Equestrian Centre.

This is Calli's first year at affiliated British Dressage and she has already qualified for the Novice Open Winter Regional Championships and the Petplan Semi Finals at Novice Open and Elementary Open.

We look forwards to many more write ups on this promising combination, well done guys!

SUCCESS AT THE BEF FUTURITY

On 13th August we took Sally's foal, Decandro Hit LDS and Viandra's foal, Decandra LDS to Myerscough for the BEF Futurity. Both foals were being presented under the Dressage section, and although we knew they were quality foals it is always a nerve wracking time opening them up to independant evaluations.

We are delighted to report that Decandra LDS was awarded a good FIRST PREMIUM of 8.10 with real praise for her canter and her frame. Decandro Hit LDS was awarded a HIGHER FIRST PREMIUM of 8.60 with incredible comments on his cadence within the trot and canter, gaining 8.75 for these along with his athleticism.

Thank you to the Team for helping to prepare the mares and their foals for the evaluations, they looked super and they all behaved very well.

A successful KWPN Grading for Logwood Dressage!

Logwood Dressage took Tiara (Hershey) and her foal Java van Eton LDS, Viandra and her foal Jiandra van Eton LDS and Gykelly LDS to the KWPN Grading and Foal Inspection at Northcote Stud. Despite the foals not having much handling prior to the event, they behaved impeccably and really did their late sire proud. Jiandra van Eton LDS was Reserve Dressage Foal for the day and Java van Eton LDS came just below her with extremely complimentary comments from the inspectors regarding the conformation and ability of both fillies.

Tiara was presented as an older Show Jumping mare and we were delighted when she achieved Stud Book status as she was a maiden mare when we acquired her and so far she is proving to be a fabulous foundation mare for the stud.

Gykelly LDS was presented as a 3 years old Dressage mare and was graded into the KWPN stud book. She showed off her stunning paces with her canter being very highly rated by the inspectors.

A great day all around and a real promising start for Logwood Dressage Stud!

Casanova LDS becomes a LICENSED AES Stallion

When Logwood Dressage presented Casanova LDS to the AES we had high hopes that he would grade for the forthcoming season. However, when Steve Lamb assessed him he was so impressed by his quality that he awarded him FULL LICENSED STATUS. This is usually reserved for stallions who have shown ability in the young horse classes, so it is a very rare accolade for a rising 3 years old! We are blown away by our achievement and very honoured to own such a beautiful young horse.

Casanova LDS will be standing at public stud in 2015 and we are extremely excited to see his progeny on the ground in 2016. He is a very promising young stallion for the future and we hope to present him at the BBSH Stallion Parade to be held at Hartpury in January 2015.

A huge thank you goes to Denise Mitchell of Gamblethorpe Hanoverians. Denise purchased Casanova as a foal at the Verband Auctions, proving once again that she has a fantastic eye for future stallion prospects!

BOLANA AT THE SUMMER REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Unfortunately, Rebecca and Bolana did not have the easiest lead up to the Summer Regional Championships, but Rebecca came away very pleased with the results they achieved at Port Royal. The first test was the Medium Restricted. Rebecca felt that she rode the test simply too safely so did not get the high marks that the partnership are capable of gaining. However, they came just out of the ribbons in 11th place and 64.55%.

The second day was the Elementary Open class which is always a very hotly contested class. Thankfully, Becky Moody was there to help Rebecca warm up and because of the results in the Medium test it was decided that Bolana needed to be worked much more advanced to be in with a chance of top ten. There was a small blip as Bolana was spooking as she went into the arena, but the pair kept a lid on it and came away with 9th place and 67.85%!
